Dr. Barry Ekdom, Ph.D.
​Clinical NeuroPsychologist

Dr. Ekdom earned his Ph.D. at the University of Iowa, then trained for two years in clinical neuropsychology at the Department of Neurology at North Shore University Hospital, a Cornell affiliate, at Georgetown University Hospital. After three years at a local neurological clinic, Dr. Ekdom began his independent practice and became an adjunct faculty member at the George Washington Medical School, Department of Neurological Surgery. For over twenty years, Dr. Ekdom has been committed to and specialized in high quality diagnostic assessment and consultation with persons two years of age through the elderly. Dr. Ekdom's professional affiliations include the International Neuropsychological Society, the National Academy of Neuropsychology, the American Psychological Association, the International Dyslexia Association, and the Epilepsy Foundation.

Dr. nicole hashemian-Khah, PSY.D.
Clinical Neuropsychology Post-Doctoral fellow

Dr. Hashemian-Khah earned her doctorate in clinical psychology at the American School of Professional Psychology. She has broad experience working with individuals and families with a wide variety of mental health disorders. As part of her clinical training, which included doctoral externships at the Children’s National Medical Center, she has worked collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams performing clinical assessments and utilizing empirically supported treatment methods to care for patients. Dr. Hashemian-Khah has presented on topics such as trauma and abuse, assessing and treating eating disorders, models of implementing behavioral healthcare, and nurturing motivation and resilience in children with ADHD. She is fluent in Persian (Farsi) and well-versed in working with culturally diverse populations. Dr. Hashemian-Khah is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) as well as the APA’s Division of Clinical Neuropsychology.​​​​

DR. MARY LELA WEATHERS, PSY.D.
​CLINICAL NEUROPSYCHOLOGY POST-DOCTORAL FELLOW

​Dr. Weathers earned her Psy.D. in clinical psychology at the American School of Professional Psychology. Her experience includes working with individuals and families presenting with various mental health disorders, neurological conditions, and other medical conditions. She has completed doctoral externships at Mount Washington Pediatric Hospital, Division of Psychology and Neuropsychology and Health South Rehabilitation Hospital, where she performed clinical evaluations, advised treatment and discharge planning, and provided consultation referrals. Dr. Weathers has presented on the neuropsychological implications of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, pediatric brain injury and patient care, the self-compassionate approach to functional impairment after brain injury, and the social-emotional implications of pediatric ADHD.  She has worked with individuals across the lifespan, ranging from childhood to geriatric populations.

dr. ranon cortell, PH.D.
​Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Cortell is a licensed psychologist in Maryland and a member of the American Psychological Association.  He received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from The Catholic University of America and completed his pre-doctoral internship at the Woodburn Center for Community Mental Health where he worked with clients of all ages and varied cultural backgrounds. Dr. Cortell conducts psychological assessments to evaluate learning, attention, emotional, and behavioral challenges and provide appropriate recommendations. He works with children, adolescents, and adults, providing individual and family therapy and psychological assessment.

Dr. Michelle sullivan-gast, PSY.D. 
clinical Psychologist

​Dr. Sullivan-Gast earned her Psy.D. in clinical psychology at the American School of Professional Psychology. She trained in neuropsychology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center prior to completing an internship and post-doctoral training in a private practice setting. Dr. Sullivan-Gast has extensive experience working with individuals of all ages, from the very young to the elderly. She is a licensed psychologist in the state of Virginia and has been with the practice since 2009.

​Psychometrist

Denise graduated from The College of St. Rose with a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology. Prior to joining the practice in 2015, Denise worked on several research projects examining early childhood education programs in DC public and private schools. In her current role, she works with patients of all ages administering accurate assessments while ensuring that the testing process is an enjoyable one.

​Office Manager

For nine years, Mrs. Powell, who has 25 years previous office management experience, has been the person most of our patients and parents have spoken with first on the phone.  She patiently explains the purposes, procedures, and practical details of an evaluation, schedules the dates of evaluation, and helps prepare patients for a good evaluation experience. Throughout the evaluation process, Mrs. Powell is central in organizing the evaluation times, reports, and clinical consultations between referral sources and our providers to gracefully make the process a positive experience for our patients and their families.
