Frequently Asked Questions About Insurance & Fees
Are you in network with any insurance companies?
We are an independent healthcare provider and are presently only in network with Medicare. We are not in network with any other insurance providers and also do not accept Medicaid.
We terminated our contract with CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield and are no longer in network with them as of June 06, 2023. Unfortunately, this action was necessary in order for us to be able to maintain the quality and integrity of our work. Our goal is to provide neuropsychological evaluations that are comprehensive, tailored, and high quality. Rather than being forced to leave decisions about these complex evaluations to insurance bureaucrats, we want to be able to perform the assessments that our team of highly devoted, educated, and trained professionals believe are the most appropriate given each individual's particular circumstances.
If your health insurance is CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield, this means that the cost of your evaluation with us will be an out-of-pocket expense. However, you will still be able to file a claim for reimbursement if your plan includes out-of-network coverage. We can assist you with that.

What is the cost of a neuropsychological evaluation?
The cost of a neuropsychological evaluation can vary as the complexity of the assessment can vary from individual to indivdual based on a number of factors. Generally, you can expect the cost of a comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation with us to range from about $3,500 to $5,000. We bill at an hourly rate and the total cost includes time spent on the initial consultation/interview, testing, scoring, analysis, and report writing. A feedback session with one of our doctors to go over the final report is optional and billed separately.
Early in 2022, the No Surprises Act codified the right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" explaining how much medical care will cost. We fully support the aspirations of this legislation, but the presiding agencies have not yet clarified how we are expected to interpret and implement related requirements. However, we always clearly state our fees and provide an estimate of cost prior to initiating services.

Will my health insurance cover your services?
It depends. If your health insurance plan includes out-of netwok (OON) coverage, you may get reimbursed for the services we provide to you. The amount completely depends on your insurance carrier and your particular plan. We will provide you with the applicable diagnostic and service codes needed to claim your out-of-network benefits.
Please note that reimbursement remains at the sole discretion of insurance carriers and we cannot predict, guarantee, or take any responsibility for these decisions.

Is educational/academic testing covered by insurance?
No, educational/academic testing is not covered by inusrance.
A comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation consists of both neuropsychological testing as well as educational/academic testing. This means that even if your insurance company covers the cost of the neuropsychological testing that is deemed medically necessary, the educational/academic testing portion is still not covered.

Will using my insurance affect my medical record?
Yes. In order for insurance to pay, you must be diagnosed. This is an important point to consider before using your insurance. Since health insurance is part of the medical model, you (or your child) must be diagnosed with a mental health condition if you utilize your insurance for mental health services. This means that any subsequent diagnosis will become part of your permanent medical record and possibly affect your future coverage, employment, school options, etc.
Do you accept health savings account (HSA), flexible savings account (FSA), or health reimbursement account (HRA) debit cards?
Yes. If you have a pre-tax account set aside for healthcare expenses, you can use that account's debit card to pay for our services. You can also pay us by check and submit the receipt to that account for reimbursement.
