Neuropsychological Evaluations and ASD
Neuropsychological evaluations play a critical role in assessing Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), a complex neurodevelopmental condition characterized by a wide range of challenges in social interaction, communication, and behavior. These evaluations are essential for accurately diagnosing ASD, as they provide a comprehensive analysis of an individual’s cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning, enabling clinicians to identify specific strengths and weaknesses that inform tailored intervention strategies.
As the prevalence of autism diagnoses increases, the significance of neuropsychological assessments in understanding and supporting individuals with ASD has become increasingly prominent, particularly in educational and therapeutic contexts. As understanding of ASD evolves, neuropsychological evaluations are increasingly recognized as pivotal in developing effective support plans and educational accommodations, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for those on the autism spectrum.
Through continued collaboration among healthcare professionals, educators, and families, neuropsychological assessments can be leveraged to foster an inclusive environment that empowers individuals with ASD to thrive across various life domains.

ADOS: The Gold Standard for Diagnosing ASD
We use the ADOS (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule) assessment, which is a structured, standardized evaluation and is widely considered the "gold standard" for clinically diagnosing ASD. It involves a series of interactive tasks and activities designed to observe and measure social interaction, communication skills, play, and repetitive behaviors in individuals across different age groups and developmental levels.
Dr. Nicole Hashemian has extensive training and experience in administering all modules of the ADOS and assesses individuals aged four and above, including adults.
